zZine went seeking some answers into an image that has had a lot of CyberArmy members asking questions lately.
The image causing quite a stir (/files/arts/Phoenix.png) features a picture of a militaristic styled bird titled \"Phoenix - Trust your instinct\" and marked copyright to the CyberArmy Challenges. Today zZine answers your questions, General ToTaL had this to say. . .

zZine X/O craytonic reports

Recently, there was an image released into the CA /files that depicted a Phoenix, and spoke about CyberArmy Challenges, it's clear to some people this may be the codename for the next set of challenges. Can you confirm this?

ToTaL: \"I can neither confirm nor deny this, at this stage, but that would be an intelligent assumption as i too have seen said image\"

There are rumors that the meaning behind using the name \"Phoenix\" as the codename is quite deep. The Phoenix will rise from the ashes, being Zebulun/Sered? is there any body to these rumors?

ToTaL: \"I would imagine that indeed if Phoenix has been chosen as a code/release name for the challenges then there would be a deep underlying meaning to its use. after all with the recent problems with Sered and current lack or \"death\" there of the Zebulun challenges, we are quite looking forward to something to rise from the ashes, and I'm sure when it does, which indeed it will, it will be quite splendid, spectacular even :D\"

ChalDev has recently made a surprising change and allowed discussion about the Alphaplex challenges, and noting that the forum is named \"challenge discussion\" possibly discussion about future challenges also. What prompted this move?

ToTaL: \"It was more of a global decision between the ChalDev team and CyberArmy staff, but one that will still be closely monitored by the ChalDev team to make sure it is not abused. at the moment as Alphaplex is the only challenge available then yes it's discussion is the primary topic, however whenever the new challenges are released a certain level of discussion will be allowed in relation to them also. The reason behind the move was because several members of CyberArmy staff and the ChalDev team believe that the total ban on challenge discussion was no longer in line with our policy on open source, freedom of information and free discussion of ideas as stated in /about/ and I believe the discussion policy post in the aforementioned forum there was no particular reason behind the timing of the change in policy, it is something that I personally believe was long overdue!\"

I guess the question on a lot of people's minds, given the rumors of Phoenix Challenges, is how can we be sure this won't just be another Sered, and will never see the light of day? What changes has ChalDev made to ensure the mistakes of Sered are not repeated?

ToTaL: \"There's a good question. There are many projects that come to light and then for whatever reason fall back into the darkness. I think the problem with Sered was that there wasn't enough team work and there was too much pressure on any one member of the team at those particular times. We have learnt from the mistakes of the past and now have a very strong team of graphics/design, coders and administration staff that complement each other and support each other completely. All code is shared and stored in a central version control system so everyone has access whenever they need it. I guess to sum that up we've made sure we work together as a team and have a good project management structure in place to oversee things, simply put we can't fail :) or at least I like to think so, I have a lot of faith in the team we have right now! Also we communicate far more effectively now and all decisions on the progression of the storyline and code are made as a team. It makes for a better working environment if everyone feels they are on an equal level.\"

zZine thanks General ToTaL for his time on this matter. zZine will continue to report and follow up on any leads regarding the CyberArmy challenges.
