| When a new internet worm is found, people want to know if they are protected. How fast is the worm? and how does the worm spread?
|
|
The new Symantec Worm Simulator gives graphic demonstration of how worms weave their way through the Internet, and how they fare against a custom network and security policys.
It may sound just like another spoof of SimCity to some, but in reality it is nothing of the sort. The Worm Simulator is a vastly modified version of the VBSim application released in mid-1997. VBSim was the first application of its kind to show? the spread of a virus. The new Worm Simulator takes VBSim another step up, enabling custom configuration of new worm simulations, configuration of custom networks and protection policies as well as incorporating an impressive new 3D design.
The simulator is accompanied by documentation that explains how to run the program as well as six ready-to-load worm simulations. These simulations include four network simulations, each setup with a different security policy.
The worm simulator can be downloaded here.
