Logon Dialog Box
As of 4/20/04 I am using the latest build of Windows XP with all the latest updates and hotfixes.
This is a simple edit you can make so you get a custom message dialog box when you start windows XP.
- Open up your Control Panel
- Open Administrative Tools
- Open Local Security Policy
- On the left menu, expand = Local Policies
- Select = Security Options
A list of policies should open in the right hand window.
To edit these, right click and select = Properties. When you've made your changes, click = Apply, then click = OK
6) Scroll down and find) Interactive logon: Message text for users attempting to log on => This should be blank. You can enter anything you like here. This will be the message in your dialog box that pops up. The amount of text that can be entered here seems unlimited.
7) Select the next one) Interactive logon: Message title for users attempting to log on => This should be blank as well. This is simply the title to the dialog box that opens up containing your message text for users attempting to logon. This text is limited to 95 characters.
When you are finished, close out all of the boxes and either continue back to whatever you were doing, or restart to see your custom logon dialog box.
At your next boot up you should see your custom dialog box.
You will not be able to Logon until you click OK on your message box.
If you no longer want this dialog box, follow the steps to numbers 6 and 7 and just erase everything you entered in the text box. Click = Apply, then click = OK
