There are lots of freeware sites like MajorGeeks that have apps to encrypt, wipe and hide that would likely fool the average family, one quick 'n' cheesy way would be to get PicoCrypt (Free) ( http://www.picofactory.com ), a small simple handy blowfish crypter you just drag files through that is portable to your usb stick so the family will never see it unless you forget...Create a couple of folders way down deep like the bottom of System if a Win and name them in typical win gibberish...Delete and wipe any remains after a session. I wouldn't think an average person, even if they were pretty computer literate would ever look in those type of folders and even know what they were looking at if they did. Another semi cheap one would be get yourself a cheap R/W CD burner and a free stego app to hide files in an MP3 format then put the CDs in their crystal cases labelled with what music is on them. They serve double duty as a music collection and no one can hear the difference plus they're off your hard drive. In the case of someone with the resources of an FBI it really doesn't matter how you hide or encrypt your drive, they will get it if they get your drive no matter where the key is...They don't need it. May take 'em years but they will break it, heh, and probably let you rot while they do. I may be wrong but the only way to do it is go removable and then that has it's own security issues. As far as locking a Win to keep even a determined script kiddie out, fat chance as far as I know, too many ways of booting and getting into everything. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
