Hey all you graphics people

Tr Frudo

I want to learn how to create cool graphics, but I have a problem. My first problem is I don't have any cash to buy Photoshop or any other graphics programs. I've heard about GIMP. Is this an OK graphics program? And my second problem is I've never been able to draw anything by hand. Does this mean any graphics I create will suck, or is the process of creating computer graphics completely different?
