As close as I was to DigD the news of his passing came as a huge surprise to me, and weeks after the fact. I had meant to call him in November, but we lost three family members in the first three weeks of the month, and calling him was lost in the shuffle. For me this serves as a reminder to keep in better contact with all of my friends, and not put off doing so until it's too late.

DigD died on December 12, 2007. I have not bothered the family as to his cause of death. Complications from his accident, as mentioned below, is possibly the most likely explanation. In short DigD was a true, trusted and valued friend, not just an online one. I would like to thank Halley for writing up the tribute below. My hope for everyone who has ever joined CyberArmy is that they have made one, if not many such real friends here in this community.

It is not often that this community loses a member considering how long the site has been active, and this is the first time that we have ever lost a member who had given so much to the community for so long a time. There are likely many things that have been missed within this post, because it is very difficult to remember everything that someone has done over an eight-year period.

Retired Commander-in-Chief Digitaldemon was one of our longest-serving members. He joined during the days of Zeb, and after gaining ranks through that challenge, then joined the original CyberArmy Services and Support brigade, which at that time was called Internal Command. He served as a moderator, and was a valued and hard-working member of the brigade. He eventually became X/O and later C/O of the brigade.

As a member of Staff, it is certain that people did not always agree with him - that's simply the nature of making decisions in a group. However, he was always fair, and never made a decision without considering all the possible options. His decision-making ability is what brought him to the attention of the Executive Staff, and he was also part of the group that created ISPAN in order to prevent a recurrence of the sale of the domain by any one individual, because he realized that despite any position held, the community was still greater than any one person.

When DD became CinC, he implemented a lot of changes in CA, and got off to a good start. However, he was involved in a serious accident during that time, and the community was not made aware of this. As a result, there was a lot of confusion and complaints about lack of Exec and so forth, when there was really nothing that could be done in the situation. He eventually passed leadership of CA to icklenewt, but still had every intention of contributing to the community - he was still logging in regularly, even up to a few days prior to his untimely death.

There are many trite aphorisms that would be appropriate here, but it is very rare that someone makes so great an impact in any arena as did DigitalDemon at CA. It takes a lot of dedication to do what he did here for so long a time, and his experience and manner will be sorely missed.

Be Well and Stay Safe,
Scanjack
