MacOS X server. It runs on both x86 and PPC. It has the stability of a *nix box since the core consist of a version of FreeBSD with the Mach kernel, and it has the nice mac gui. Many people see MAC and run without ever taking a look. If you haven't used any version of Mac OS, don't knock it until you try it. If you have, but haven't tried Mac OS X, give it a look. I haven't really found anyone that has had anything bad to say. I haven't tried the x86 version yet, but I have used the PPC version. I think the x86 one will be just as good since Apple went through a lot of trouble to make sure that it runs on both platforms in all levels of development. If something didn't work the same on both systems, they re-wrote it so it would. Also, we need to thank Apple for contributing all the work done on the BSD underlieing Mac OS X to the open source community. If you want just the BSD part without Apples copywrited code (the GUI mainly), you can get it at http://www.opendarwin.org. ![]() Lt. Kernel individual![]() To Join Media Correspondence click here.
