I don't think what I'm about to tell you is going to help, but I might as well say it anyway...

I had the same problem a while back in the old days of RH 7.x
After installing everything, everything was working dandy but I did get tons of static, and XMMS crashed from time to time ( frequently )
The way I got around it is when I upgraded when the bought out the next 7.x (can't remmember what ones it was.)

Anyway, what you have might be the same problem, but are you using any programs for sound, and it does the same thing? it might just be that one program, or it might be just linux..., I read somewhere linux isn't the best for music ( creates more static than other OS's)

So I dunno... lol I'll just finish off this pointless post with saying
