![]() LtKer dax5 the two that are more user friendly, i.e. easier for a Windows user to switch over to, would be RedHat and Mandrake. From my experience, I've found Mandrake to be easier to install and configure. It has a couple of desktops to choose from, KDE, Gnome, etc, and seems to make a smooth transition from Windows (especially NT/2000). And it should be stable enough to suit your needs ... much more than the Windows platform (although, I still like 2000). Slackware is for more advanced users, and takes a little experience to configure correctly. Just my 2 cents, let me know if I can help you with any of it, or if you need some documentation.
