![]() ![]() Alpha 2nd Lt jgambleii I would recommend running a Chkdsk on the hard drive. Enter SafeMode before you do this. 1. Double click "My computer". 2. Right click on the "C" drive and select "Properties". 3. Select the "Tools" tab and then the "Check Now..." option. 4. Make sure "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" are checked, and click "Start". You may get a prompt stating "The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed only by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule this disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?" You'll want to click "Yes" and restart the computer. 5. Once Windows starts to load, the Disk Check will start... It shouldn't take very long, and it may find errors... If it does, it'll attempt to fix them and that should solve the HDD problem. Another thing to do is find out who makes the hard drive that's in your computer and go to their website to see if there are any custom Hard Disk diagnostic utilities that you can use to see if there are any problems with the disk. If it does detect problems, you may want to consider backing up all of your data and replacing the disk. A lot of times Hard Drives aren't very considerate in letting you know when they're about to die. :) -jgambleii Replies:
