iirc, you can't upgrade XP to 2003 (like Anvar kind of implied)...

Your best option, if you want to keep your data on the disk, without wiping it - would be to move all files wanted to a directory in the root of the partition, delete as much as you can from Program Files & Documents and Settings, then install 2003 in a seperate directory from the XP system dir (ie. C:\WIN2K3 or C:\WINNT rather than C:\WINDOWS).

If you have a boot disk/CD capable of accessing NTFS partitions, it would be better to completely remove C:\WINDOWS, Documents and Settings, and Program Files before installing 2003 :)
