I just installed the newest Kubuntu release, but cannot seem to get my sound to work correctly. I've got a USB 5.1 channel audio adapter (as found here), but haven't figured out a way to have ubuntu recognize it as being there. When it was installing, I heard a pop in my speakers, making me think that it was going to actually recognize the device, but after installation never heard another peep.

I also have found it here where folks are saying that "even on linux" it works: here

Worth noting, when I start the computer up, every single time while ubuntu is loading modules it makes a sound in my speakers. I guess that means that it's just checking the USB port to see that something is there, but when I go to lsusb it doesn't show up as being a device that is recognized.

Thanks in advance for any of you guys' help!
