First off, I would have to agree with Asmodai on it,
I had windows XP and slackware on the same hdd, I had multiple problems dealing with both OS's.

You could use Cygwin(www.cygwin.com) to emulate nix on XP. I personally havent tried it thou so cant say to much about it.

However based on your question you asked. Your gonna have to re-format your HDD if Windows XP is taking up all the space. Then when your loading it back on and about to format it, remember to allow space for the RH your using. XP will usually need more then a NIX system because of the GUI of the system.(I assume, and the sloppy coding :P ) Once that is loaded you can add RH into it on the partition thats free. Or you can use windows Window Managment System to do so. If you want, you can do it from the CMD Line of Windows by typing 'diskpart'.
