![]() LtKer silverKnight I had my mother come up to me about a week ago stating her computer was broken again. Yet another reboot for Windows ME after 2 months of spare enjoyment from it. I came to realise that my mother would have to dish out another 199.99$ to get MS XP or 99.99 to upgrade. An according to the MS Sales Rep - The upgrade wouldnt work on my mothers computer. Go figure. So I embarked on a quest... While Im on a quest to find a OS that is similiar to Windows, I've noticed many OS are exactly the same.I have downloaded an array of public distrubutions from RedHat-FreeBSD and as well as the private ones made by small groups. I have, roughly 8-10 on cds now and 4 on floppy. Rarely did I find one that even resembled Windows. Im not really looking for the GUI but user friendly features and ease of learning. There was one floppy disc OS that resembled Windows 3.1 which was insteresting having a GUI then to load programs you must go through the cmd system. I've noticed while looking through the internet that many people complain about MS yet no other company has thought to develop a OS similiar to it enough where first time computer users can use it. It just bugs me to know this. As well as on the Linspire OS which is suppose to be the closes thing to Windows was a shame as well. That was a horrible OS. grr. The reason Im posting is to ask what your opinions are on the field of marketing Opertating systems. Why hasnt a Windows-Look-Like been made - or - why not one with the user friendly functions it contains.. [ - ] LtKer silverKnight Replies:
