On the Linux front, I am aware of a KDE/Konqueror plugin called Reaktivate which could implement certain ActiveX controls under Konqueror. This plugin worked essentially on the same principles as Codeweavers' Crossover Plugin, acting as a bridge between the browser and some version of WINE. It can be found in KDE's CVS tree here.
