install rh, don't register yet at the install screen. boot to the desktop, download the updated packages (rhn* or something), install them as root via 'rpm -Uvh rpmname.rpm' and then try again. though i think redhat will close the support soon because they moved the free project over to fedora (fedora.redhat.com) iirc.
anyways good distribution for entering the linux world.
