Well well, Ati Cards in Linux...

This will lead you to three choices:

The Gatos Driver
The XFree Internal Driver
The ATI fglrx Driver

I never tried the Gatos driver, but I've read that it was really bad numerous times

The XFree internal driver is a good choice and so is fglrx

I'm using the latter one. Had the best experience with it in the past. Could be that the internal driver is the best meanwhile. Well, check it out :) And as always, google is your best friend.
