i've installed turbo linux, which works fine, except when X starts (It didn't support my ATI radeon 9000). So I got the source for the latest release from www.xfree86.org and recompiled it on my box, overwriting the previous version. It now recognizes my vcard but the settings for my scren have been changed and now my moniotor doesn't support the sync rate (my monitor is a samsung syncmaster 753df...ironically...). now I'm trying to boot off linux to go and execute xconfig again, but as soon as the boot is over, X starts ( because it'sworking now), but the sync rate is not supported by my monitor, so I get a "SYNC OUT OF RANGE" from my monitor, so basically, I don'T have the signal going properly to my monitor. Now i'm not very good at troubleshooting compiling errors in the dark, so is there any way I could stop X from starting at login? (Boot switch like doze' F8 or something)

Thanks in advance
