Under Mandrake you have urpmi, which is a lot better than rpm and which provide similar services as apt-get. Well, actually urpmi is built over rpm: it is mainly developped in Perl as most of the Mandrake administration tools.
It automatically resolve dependencies, look up for the missing parts, and install them. Much more convenient than rpm.
