I'm a bit confused. Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

You are going to back up a windows machine.

You will transfer the files using samba from the windows machine to linux box.

The linux box will then burn the cds.

Is the above correct?
If so then the cd writing can be set up on the Linux box as a cron job to write the transferred directories to cd. In this case you aren't burning across a network so it's easy.

However if you want to burn to a cd using a different machine than the Linux backup box then that's another kettle of fish.
