Really it does come down to preferernce, I would only use bsd for my server needs, I haven't even tried it as a desktop OS (they say it's good too). But the reason I use freebsd, is because not only do I evade all the clutter that comes with Linux, but it's easier for me to admin, it's also easier to secure imho. I have had both my debian and slackware box's hacked ( sure I wasn't really that tight no security), so since then I've switched to fbsd :]

For the avg user there probably is no difference, apart from how a couple of commands are executed.. but in reality, the kernel differs(they say it's more 'UNIX-y' :-) ) as well as the performance in some cases (no flames please :]).

And I hear that obsd is pretty damn good for security :)

All in all I didn't create this 'site/room' to get hits activity, but I want to create a learning enviroment as well as an enviroment for discussing these types of things.

I am fairly new to bsd myself.. so I am also doing this so I can learn a bit more about it, so far all I can see are good things :] (except for some hardware issues). So, if I have to sit in that room alone, and make updates about news and stuff I learn, and no one will ever read it.. at least I'm learning :) Cheers
