![]() Ret. Ker reeferman
All desktop icons suddenly reverted to 256 colours rather than their usual 32 bit colour upon one reboot. After getting no luck changing settings in properties/effects (show all icons in all possible colours) i thought i might be able to edit the icons values in the registry. Which i could by changing the value of string (Shell Icon BPP) located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics from 16 to 32. Made no difference, still grainy looking icons on the desktop and in folders. Went to the Microsoft database and they have no information on the problem, however i did find a solution in the most unlikely of forums... http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~q3app/board/messages/70.shtml Basically, Win2k comes with a lovely bit of software called Net meeting which dicks up all your icons and forces them to use the lowest possible colour settings through its desktop sharing feature. If anyone else has had this similar problem, the only fix is the one listed in the link above. Everything else you try will fail, aside from a fresh install but who wants to do that? "I am Reeferman" Yes. I can delete your posts. Contact: Replies:
