Ret. CinC Chawmp
Greetings, everyone.
At 00:00 UTC today, we made the following changes to the membership database:
All users that have not logged into CyberArmy since the new site came online have been purged from the database
All users not currently joined to a brigade have been reset to c0 (Trooper)
(The changes did not affect retired members)
Inactive accounts were removed from the database to allow the names to be reused by new members. Members who were not currently members of brigades were reset to c0, so that we can start largely afresh.
Since members' ranks were carried over from the old, zeb-based system, they are unfortunately, on the whole, not representative of members' abilities, experience, or commitment - the values upon which we hope for the system of ranks and commendations to be based in the future. A total reset might fix this in the long run, but would be far too much of an administrative nightmare, let alone a major blow to some members' sense of belonging. To save rebuilding things completely from scratch, the first step towards bringing the value and proportionality back to our rank system, we believe, is to have those currently active within brigades keep their old ranks, and for other members, new and old, to work up through the new, improved system.
Once the Sered challenges are online, we hope to be able to attract more of the casual element once again, and offer players a separate system of ranking, based on completing levels of the game, that carries with it the esteem, but not so much of the responsibility.
A promotion system is currently being finalized, and will be online very soon. After this, we hope to be able to organize ranks efficiently again, with rank being assigned fairly, by merit, in a way that benefits us all.
We do realize that currently, within the brigades, the ranks are not necessarily always the perfect measure of the attributes we desire. But things are reasonable overall, and a fairly solid structure is set in place; one that we can build upon and reinforce.
We are currently experiencing a slightly slow period, as things are reorganized, and the new site system is developed, but we have seen much progress from everyone currently involved, and continue to. Brigades are reporting successes, and the network of websites and other servers is being improved every day.
If anyone does have any problems with these changes, please cMS me, or one of the Vice CinCs, and we will try to resolve the issue with you. Please take into consideration our reasons for these changes though; to benefit the whole of CA; before you contact us.

Best regards,
Chawmp
