I think what he was getting at was running something along the lines of Knoppix directly from the CD. The only way that won't work is if they switched the boot sequence on the computer so that the CD-ROM isn't the first thing it looks at to boot.

Even if this does work though, I don't know how running a Linux variant is going to help.
