Hm. Could be a couple things, maybe...

1. Make sure you're copying/pasting the confirmation key rather than typing it in (easy to confuse lower-case l and the number 1, for instance), and that your mail client isn't wrapping it to the next line in any way. Normally this is not the problem, but it never hurts to check. :)

2. All accounts must have unique e-mail addresses, so if you're re-signing up for an account with the same e-mail address, that could cause the "someone's already signed up with your details" error.

3. If all else fails, after 24 hours your join request will be purged if it's not activated, so you could try it again in case there was a hiccup somewhere along the line.
