![]() ![]() Beta Cpt SAJChurchey The paging file does resize itself dynamically (which can be intensive) if you just allow Windows to manage your virtual memory settings. So setting your own sizes is a good idea. The paging file that virtual memory uses is to swap things to/from memory, and it does fragment like any other file. Consequently, you will see your system slowing down after long-periods of use. I usually turn off virtual memory and defragment to take care of this periodically. The thing is that Windows uses virtual memory to a certain extent whether or not there is room in your RAM. When I'm using windows, I like to turn off virtual memory completely if I have a lot of RAM (maybe 512MB+) b/c it's quicker to access RAM than the hard disk like ravn said. Cpt SAJChurchey
