![]() ![]() Alpha Maj ravn because you have to remember, a meg of ram is 1024k - not 1000. This leads to RAM chip manufacturers rounding up/down as necessary. So your 256 meg chip may well actually only be 255 meg. What you did with the virtual memory was - basically you increased the amount of hard drive space it uses as RAM. Making it larger will (generally) help performance - to an extent. You've got to keep in mind that your hard drive is not nearly as fast as RAM and having a bigger pagefile/virtual memory allocation wont help as much as more real RAM would.
