I usually don't read /. but from proding of several of my close freinds about the project I've been working on I checked it today. My idea's were a little different and I wanted to add a little bit more than what sveasoft had to offer while keeping it truely open-source and free ( free as in beer and speach ). I was basicly going to do a spin off of the openwrt system which included QoS and frottle. What I feel the sveasoft firmware lacks though is the demand for security. AKA frees/wan. I had high hopes that I could get this done before it became too popular. Cats out of the bag I guess. None the less I will continue the project as none have fully dedicated the time to making a perfect system with all the demands that need to be meet from the geeks who use it. Once I get the project off the ground I was wondering if osi would provide a cvs space for the project and if someone could host a wiki. I still think I can produce a superior firmware. For those who want to see the article on slashdot the adress is
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/06/01/0640250&mode=thread&tid=126&tid=137&tid=193&tid=215&tid=95

My flash will include many things that the sveasoft firmware completly lacks as well as essentially bring up the openwrt project up to speed. I plan to produce two versions of the frimware. One which includes everying in one flash as well as the current bare bones openwrt with an ipkg repository for customization. One thing openwrt still lacks is a web interface. Apprently they are working on one but I haven't read the forms in a while. Btw anyone who wishes to work on the project I suggest for hardware the WRT54GS not the wrt54g as the GS has an 8 meg flash.

Peace.
