Hardrive Trouble

i recently bought a new 200gig hardrive and it was working grand until a week later when i unpluged it to install a dvd writer i changed the ide plugs but had problems and changed it back to the original plug it was pluged into deleted the partition win xp was installed on and reformatted the hardrive and reinstalled win xp but when i reinstalled everything my hard was only regestering at 128gigs max capacity, i used partition magic 8 pro to check the partition but the max capacity i could get was still 128gigs, i also tried scanning for bad sectors but it turned up nothing, any help would be greatly appreciated,thanks
