Set both drives to cable select that way there can be no misconfiguration as to where you plug them into the cable.... then go into your cmos/setup and make sure that the settings are all set to auto on the ide channels if still nothing.. try putting one of the drives on the same cable with the hdd... I had this same problem a while back.. for some unknown reason the particular cd-r and dvd-rom did not like to be on the same ide channel. That is what i would try first
