Ok...

If you have an integrated video card into your motherboard (as it sounds with only 4mb memory and it being shared with your main memory) You can adjust the settings in your BIOS usually as to how much of your memory gets devoted to video memory.

As far as the second part goes... If I am understanding you right you are wanting like a swap file something like an O/S uses to simulate more memory? That is nt going to be possible. Getting information from a hard drive is WAY slower than getting it out of memory... For graphics, this is just not tolerable. The only reason a swap file/partition works is because the speed needed to retrieve files/data for a program does not need to be as fast as it does for a vid card. Even if this weren't the case, you would need a very specialized driver to accomplish what you are asking.

Basically, if you are wanting to increase the performance of your vid card and free up that 4mb of RAM your best option would be to invest in a new vid card. Some of the 64mb cards are only around $35.00 USD now.
