If you are relying on battery power often then i would avoid Sony Vaio's also the PCG FX range (uk versions) only come with an 8M graphics card. I have an FX804 with 15in screen and let me tell you, carrying that thing about all day makes me want to sell it and go for something smaller...it is a cross between a desktop and laptop, Sony laptops are good for screen quality though.

I'll probably go for a Samsung one day cos the thickness of 20mm just does it for me, the price however, doesn't. Ibm might be an option aswell.

Ps...if in the future you are thinking of installing linux on it then i would check it out properly first...there are a few sites going round with people experiences of installing linux on a laptops.
