Broken CD piece in Emac

Aaaargh! This is terrible! I recently bought an ipod and am sooo close to finishing downloading my music it's not funny. I put in a cd i've played probably two times total, it's clean, not pirated or anything. I close the drive, then I hear this erratic whirr and so i hit the eject button and out comes 9/10 of my cd, a small chunk has just been bitten off and is still in the drive somewhere. I'm scared to try putting another cd in or ue the tray at all, although the tray comes in and out ok, if a little jaggedly. Ok but here's the best bit, it's not MY computer, i'm so careful with it all this time and now kebam! the warrantly is up. I don't have a hell of a lot of time or money. I am doomed aren't I?! HEEELP!
