    Summary
    An interview with Kernel Socrat.
    Body

Q: What position do you hold in CA?

    A: I'm a Kernel, X/O of CAU and C/O of Advisors.

    Q: What does that involve?

A: Well I have to hang around adtrace, asmodai and tulkas all day. :S I'll let you imagine what I go through each day. ;)

Q: Do you enjoy your position?

    A: Sure do.

Q: What's the most interesting thing about your job?

A: Well, I get to actually make what people are using, :) The TC engine, the KB engine, the forums, etc...

Q:What technical skills do you have and how long did it take for you to learn them?

A: Well, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technologies from the University of Alberta. Yeah, so that took 3 years to get. :)

From CA I've learned mostly PHP coding (a lot) along with mysql, oh, and not to talk too much on forums. ;)

Q: What are your brigade's main goals for the future?

A: Well, right now, the main goal is getting the CAU Certifications ready.

We already have the Testing Center up on the CAU site for BETA Testing of the engine. http://testingcenter.cauniverstiy.org <-- check it out!

So yeah, most of our energy is focused around the website right now since most of our public resources will be on there.

Q: Could you tell us a little about yourself outside CA?

A: Yes, well, in RL I run my own IT Solutions business, and I've got my first baby on the way! w00t!

Q: What about your CA history?

A: Well, I started off like most people back then, doing the challenges. :) I've been here for pretty long; must be 2000 or something, joined with CAU when the brigades first went live and haven't left since. I was a LtKer at the time and oh what a pain that was (heh). Then I finally made it to Ker doing the challenge and I've been a Kernel since then. One day SHEPHERD (who was C/O of CAU at the time), got me to be on the CA staff, which was pretty cool, but that didn't last more than 2 months maybe. After a sad divergence of opinion with a former Staff member, I got kicked out. It's of course a little more complex than that but I won't go into details here. :)

Q: Do you have any ambitions within CA?

A: *cough* "socrat for CinC" *cough* Meh, seriously, I'd love to be some CA plumb0r or site admin. I'll have to learn my Perl though :| /me is thinking of making CA PHP / MySQL. :P

Q:Do you have any ambitions in real life?

A: Yeah, pretty much accomplished them now, though. I wanted a business that could provide for my family and I got that, I wanted a good gf and I got that, and I wanted some babies and I got one on the way... Life is treating me pretty good I must say.

Q: What do you do in your spare time, apart from CA that is?

A: Sports, Baby :) I love to go skydiving, snowboarding, rollerblading, seadooing :) It's just great!

Q: In your opinion, what would the best thing CA could do to improve?

Hmm, that's a hard one....... Well, one of the things CA has to do is find a way to improve member/Staff relations :) but that isn't a secret for anyone now is it? :) Once we all find a better system, one that won't separate Staff from members as much, I think it will help to at least get the members focusing on important things rather than just arguing all the time, etc...

Q: Have you got any funny stories you'd like to share with us?

A: Yeah, tulkas thinks perl ownz :| but i'm a php lover :) pop and php are too easy to mistake on the keyboard...

    [19:12] <socrat> for mail
    19:12] <SHEPHERD> pop?

    [19:13] <tulkas> :P
    [19:14] * tulkas saves quote
    [19:14] <socrat> bitch
    [19:14] <tulkas> :)

Q: We heard you are in Staff Training, how you think you will help the staff?

A: I am? Oh yeah, I am! ;) Well, it hasn't started yet. On Staff...well, I'm not really sure what they got in mind for me actually, but I'll gladly do anything they ask for. I want to be on Staff so that I'm closer to the thinkers :) I like to know what is going on and I love to participate, even if just a little bit, in decision making. And actually, I have a secret plan with snarkles about making CA all PHP :) But don't tell anyone...

Q: What are the new interesting happenings in CAU ?

    A: Sorry, that's --> *******Classified********

Q: What would you say to all the CyberArmy members at this current stage?

A: Keep up the good work, one day we will make it! =)

Q: Anything you'd like to add?

    A: Nah, I've said enough...

Q: We would like to thank you for doing this interview. :)
