CPC Interview : LtKer Fu| Category | | | Summary | | This Issue of zZine looks at the brigades; their work, the positive and the negative aspects of the brigade, with that in mind I present an interview with Lt Ker. Fu X/O of CPC (congratulations Fu on the recent promotion). |
| | Body | When did you join CPC?
I joined around the end of 2002.
What was your role initially?
I had recently become aware of the threat of Palladium, and sought to research as much as I could about it, and produce documents about it for CPC.
What is your role today?
I am an Executive Officer of CPC. I host the CPC website (which I am currently working on, along with Harurenu), and I oversee the progress of the CPC divisions.
How do you feel CPC has changed over your time within the brigade?
CPC has completely changed a few times, actually, which is why it has had so much trouble being productive. We've had about 4 Brigade Commanders in the last couple of years: Tacheon, Inspectorgadget, Doeycall, and now Emrys. Along with each new Commanding Officer and new Executives came a division restructure which hurt the brigade as a whole. However, we have finally found a good way to subdivide the brigade and are sticking to it.
What do you feel is the best thing about CPC?
The best thing about CPC is that we're very relaxed and laid back, everyone is very friendly and knows each other, and we have the best color of all the brigades ;)
What are some of the current CPC projects you?d like to bring to attention of the readers?
A few projects waiting for the completion of the public website to be published would be Spyder, Gate, and Petitions. We work with CAU on Certs, we have Privacy Threats pumping out tutorials and the like, and our Public Relations division is working on a Public Contact Establishment project in which they will look for privacy organizations all over the Internet to affiliate with, exchange RSS feeds, and perhaps work alongside them in the future. We need more manpower, so if anyone is interested in working on any of these, do not hesitate to contact us. :)
What are some negative aspects of CPC as you see them?
The negatives are that we lack enough manpower to achieve the goals that we put forward. Not many people are interested in privacy anymore; they usually want to join a brigade where a lot more coding goes on. We have a bunch of very dedicated members, but we need a lot more than we currently have.
What do you consider CPC?s greatest achievement to date?
Most of our great achievements were unfortunately never publicized. I couldn't pick any single one out, because all the work done collectively becomes a great achievement for CPC as a whole. There is the members' site by Tacheon. Special Projects has been working on Spyder, Gate, and CyberArmy Petitions (CAP). Privacy Threats has produced a substantial amount of documents with regards to many privacy-violating issues.
Where do you see CPC going in the coming months/years?
Well, I'd hope that the new website will attract a lot more interest in the brigade, and that would give us the kickstart we need to become a lot more productive in the future. Privacy is one of the main goals in CA's Mission Statement, so technically we should be one of the most important brigades. I hope to see a lot of new members and a lot more public awareness of privacy issues brought by CPC.
What changes would you like to see within CPC?
As I said, I'd like to see more new members, a higher work ethic and a general increase of member morale in regards to work. Work isn't always fun, and people should know that when they join. In general, we probably need more gravity. If we take *ourselves* more seriously, people 'outside' might too.
CPC is sometimes seen as stagnant from the outside (no visible work being completed). How do you respond to that?
That is very true actually. From the outside, there is next to nothing visible. There has been a significant amount of work done within CPC, but our satellite site has been changed twice in the past, and therefore never had time to grow. This is why Harurenu and I are trying to get the new CPC website released ASAP, because we need a public outlet. zZine hosts all our articles and reports currently, so people can see a huge archive of documents in zZine's privacy section which were almost all written by our Privacy Threats division. I'd also like to add that Special Projects has recently completed two of its major projects, Spyder and Gate.
And finally, do you have anything else you would like to say about CPC?
Yes, I'd like to mention that CPC really is a fun brigade where there is a lot of work to be done. So for people on the 'outside', if you have any interest in the goals of the brigade, join up and try it out. You just might like it. We have a lot of work to be done and not a lot of dedicated members to get it done, so join up! If you have any questions just contact me via cMS.
Thank you for reading.
