Summary
Most of us know that Ready Response (or RR) was a brigade within CyberArmy until fairly recently. This article will take a look at where Ready Response is today, and the effect of the split upon its membership and projects.
Body
At the time of writing, I had not received an official response from Ready Response (due to time constraints on my part, though I did receive some information from Darkstorm777, who I'd like to thank for his input and help) so this is simply my observation of Ready Response, based on information publicly available on the RR forums and sites.

The Missions were an integral part of Ready Response when they were part of CA, and that has not changed. Ready Response has continued to develop the missions aspect of its group, and has created the Missions Network, a group of sites that display the Ready Response mission scripts.

The Missions Network today is comprised of around 20 sites, and undoubtedly this number will continue to grow. The focus of the missions is on raising awareness, publicizing security alerts and generally making the Internet a better place. As I am sure most of you have seen, CyberArmy.net displays the missions in the "MyCA" section of the site. Please take the time to complete a mission or two, and if you're feeling creative, propose a mission, as this is, in my opinion, truly a good thing.

Ready Response has an extremely useful resource in its Red-Library, a search engine catering to the IT and Security communities. The search engine is currently running with over 5000 links in various categories, and it looks set to keep growing through continued support from contributors. The site has had over 100,000 searches performed upon it, and you will always find anywhere from one to ten users on the site at any given time browsing the library. Additionally, enhancements such as the recent addition of a script which searches the library for broken links are sure to keep the Red-Library a project that will attract attention for, if nothing else, its commitment to supplying useful and current information.

However, here lies the one negative result of Ready Response's split from CyberArmy; a large community base like CyberArmy has is not evident in the RR community. One to ten users at a time is simply not a lot of people. That being said, even though Ready Response relies on community input for both the library and the missions, the shrinkage in the user base has neither helped matters, nor has it had an adverse effect in those areas.

Ready Response still continues with its other projects, such as the Incident Response team. RR also continues to grow in its online presence, both in its own community and its Missions scripts. Who knows? Maybe we will see "Mission #2492" on Google or Slashdot some day.
