Summary
This year, when students head back to college to begin the fall semester, they may find some interesting changes in regards to their university's file sharing policy.
Body
Napster, the once defunct file sharing service that set the bar for file sharing in the late 90's, has been gaining ground into the enterprise market for its paid service. Several colleges and universities have made agreements with the company allowing all of their students access to Napster's vast network of music files for free.

Penn State University and the University of Rochester were the first to join Napster's university program this past winter. Other participating colleges include Cornell University, George Washington University, Middlebury College in Vermont, University of Miami, University of Southern California, and Wright State University in Ohio.

Napster, who is now owned by Roxio Inc, seems to have found a niche with college students. In a recent survey conducted by Napster, nearly 25% of all students who used the service while in college have signed up for the paid service after graduation. If this trend continues, it could become a very lucrative business venture for Napster.

Currently Napster is offering a free MP3 player to anyone who signs up and pays for a year of service in advance. You can find out more about this offer by clicking here.
