zZine Profiles: LtKer Icklenewt| Category | | | Summary | Also this week zZine Interviews profiles LtKer icklenewt
TheDoctor: Firstly, I would like to thank you for agreeing to be interviewed, and for taking the time for interview.
ickz: no problemo =) |
| | Body | TD: Could you tell us a little about yourself, what you do, what your interests are, etc?
i: hmm, non-CA related? life outside the bubble? I like to go clubbing - go mental dancing all over the place =) , I love music - but only alternative type music (rock, metal type stuff) - which makes things strange when I go clubbing since that isn't played there hehe, I love computers (obviously) and I am currently doing a universtiy degree in Computer Science. err what else do I like...just talking with people, socialising, helping out...
i: those kinds of things =)
TD: how did you come across CyberArmy, what made you want to join?
i: It's strange, I never used chat other than MSN at the time, yet one day I ventured into some chat place, just joking about for a few mins, and happened to talk to dc98 -a CA member, he introduced it to me, I went to the site, took a look, read what the place was about and instantly wanted to join - and did. I liked the goals of CA, the challenges, and the idea of being a part of it all by joining a brigade
TD: what interested you more: the challenges or the brigades?
i: hmm good question. I was more interested in CyberArmy as a whole collection of what it was. I wanted to learn things, and use the challenges as a means to learn, but I wanted to be part of the community too - through the brigades, so both of them really
TD: what did you think of the challenges, were they terribly hard and stressful, or did you glide through them?
i: Eliza - i was stuck on eliza for ages =) hehe, but others I loved. I never knew anything to do with the things needed to pass them, so when I came accross each challenge I would research into the things I thought I needed to learn - it was great, I learned what I needed and passing made me so happy, lol =). I reached up to Lt.Ker and doubt I'd have got any further!
TD: why was that? did you find the LtKer challenge harder then the others?
i: well I knew what I needed, for the part I was on, but there would've been a lot more to it, and at that point I was starting to spend all the time I had online for brigade work - so I wasn't able to concentrate on it as much, and then CA went down. The challenges of course got harder as you progressed, and since I never knew much to start with - I doubt i would've found it too easy to get much higher =)
TD: How many brigades have you been in since you joined CA?
i: Two, I was in red (readyresponse) for about 1yr 9months =) then last November I got pinkified! err...I mean I moved to CPC =) and I'm still there
TD: what caused your wanting to change brigades?
i: I was C/O of Inter-brigade communications (top div in red) for ages, but it still wasn't fully running and I decided that someone else may be able to have better input to get it off the ground =). I felt like I wasn't contributing enough in that position, and so requested discharge.
TD: How long is it you have been in CyberArmy now?
i: about 2years now I think
TD: Whats your opinion about the new upcoming Sered challenges, are you excitedly anticipating them, or more interested in the brigades?
i: more interested in the brigades nowadays =).
TD: What are you plans for the future in CA?
i: My plans for the future of CA? or my plans for what I'm doing in CA? heh
TD: Your plans for what your doing in CA and if you have any ideas about CA's future, we'd be happy to hear them as well.
i: Hehe ok, well I plan to get Internal Relations (my div in CPC) fully up and running. I'll be trying to do as much as I can in CPC - and hopefully spread pinkiness all over CA =). I want to start being involved in more discussions on forums with regards to various peoples views and suggestions on ideas/issues for CA.
i: I'm looking to get as involved as possible in CPC and CA.
i: So whenever there is something I can help with, I'll jump to it =)
TD: Finally I would like to ask: do you think CA is on the right tracks now, compared to the old CA, or do we still have a long way to go before we get anywhere?
i: Firstly, I think as long as we never stop trying to improve ourselves then we'll do well. I think CA is moving in the right direction. We need to listen to each other, all the CA members more, see their views, feelings, ideas - because some are really great but dont get heard much. Also, we need to make sure expression of these is encouraged - and then commented on in constructive ways.
i: I think using one of the forums [CA Ideals maybe] as a debate/idea brewing discussion zone would be good, but properly coordinating it, this I raised on that forum over christmas. Some of us agreed that we would like this done, and were willing to set it up ourselves etc - just somewhere to make sure no ones voice goes unheard, or overlooked.
i: CyberArmy is on the right track, but it needs to make sure its aiming in the right direction for what its trying to achieve. I think we sometimes seem to be losing or getting confused about what we are working towards.
TD: Well, I would like to thank you again for taking time to take part in this interview, and wish you the best for the future.
i: Thanks for interviewing me, and all the best to yourself as well. =)
TD: Thank you. |
