zZine Profiles: Gen.Goldfish| Category | | | Summary | | We recently interviewed Gen. Goldfish of CASR. Read on to find out what he thinks about CyberArmy, CASR, Sered, and more. |
| | Body | Octopus: Thank you, Gen. Goldfish, for taking the time to be interviewed by zZine for zZine: Profiles.[/b]
Goldfish: It’s not a problem.
[i]O: How did you find CyberArmy?
Gf: A Friend told me about it 3 years back when we were on holiday together.
O: I see, did you join any other brigades before CASR?
Gf: I was in 'site design' for CAU, under LtKernel Enraged, I designed the first ever, (really bad, at the time (because I did it...), CAU website). I then moved in a 'dotted' line towards CAER, where I signed up.
O: Why CASR?
Gf: CASR has always been the main security brigade for CA. And it’s an area I’ve always been interested in. I also liked the people who were in CASR at the time I joined up.
O: Speaking as the C/O, do you think that CASR is moving in a good direction?
Gf: I think we're going exactly where we should be going. We've got some of the most skilled members in CA, and have the potential to make an impact on the security community and a name for CA and CASR itself.
[i]O: You recently changed the name to CASR (CA Security Research), leaving behind CAER (CA Exploit Research), why?
Gf: 'Exploit Research' was a very restrictive name in terms of what we could do, and how we could expand. All of our group descriptions had to be justified against the brigade name, and we couldn't do half of the things we now do. It has let us expand and really push ourselves. It's a good change, as its given us much more freedom. The history of the brigade is somewhat unfortunate: there was a good year and a half or so, when the brigade did practically nothing, and we're still working hard at the moment to shrug that negative reputation off.
[i]O: You were promoted to General recently, had you ever been promoted before that?
Gf: I was promoted from LtKernel to Kernel, and then to General when I took over the brigade.
[i]O: What did you think of Zebulun?
Gf: It was fantastic, and truly unique, I only hope that Sered meets the standard set by its predecessor.
[i]O: How do you feel about the direction in which CyberArmy is headed?
Gf: I support the direction CA is going, we're changing into much more of an online community than a "script-kiddie" based site. We've really got some excellently skilled members and much potential. We only have to harness that potential, and we'll be off and away.
[i]O: Do you think there is a way that CyberArmy could improve upon itself?
Gf: Once Sered is completed and running, we'll attract all sorts of people with all sorts of different interests. I do occasionally miss the challenge players, and their 'way of looking at things,' but that'll be back with Sered.
[i]O: I hear that you play Unreal Tournament. Do you play against people in CyberArmy often?
Gf: All the time, but I never win. Hellz moves at the speed of light, and that bugger gabbana creeps up behind you. They don’t play down to my level, so I'm just 'easy points' for them.
[i]O: Is there anything that you'd like to add as a final note?
Gf: The new CASR site will be coming real soon: packed full of the latest security news/info/tutorials/articles/downloads. Ya'll find out more, closer to that time. Check it out at http://www.security-research.org
[i]O: Thank you, once again
Gf: You're welcome, and thank you too. |
