Elm's Board Digest

Summary
I've been sitting here looking at this blank document for about a week now, trying to decide exactly what to include in this board digest. Inspiration is sometimes like a splinter that has become lodged somewhere in the skin, you can feel it, but every ti

A few weeks ago, I asked several people for their opinion on board moderation, and the boards. This month, I am publishing the responses of inspectorgadget and adtrace.

Inspectorgadget's Response:

Not sure if I am the best person to ask about this, as I do not dwell on the boards like most people, however I will let you know what I have to say.

Basically, what should be deleted depends on what board the post is on and what that post states. A post cannot be deleted just because everyone disagrees with it or a board moderator just doesn't want to hear what that person has to say. Everyone should be heard but there will and should be consequences for certain kinds of posts, such as attacks. Personal issues can be handled through IRC, in a private PM, or email.

Things such as love letters are also inappropriate. Things such as that can be kept private and do not have to be so public.

Lastly, posts that should be posted in other places (Something should be on Brigade Coordination or Members discussion etc.) should be moved and the person should be told not to do it again. I do not think the entire board should be ?freedom of speech?. This is a serious organization and our image matters as the people in it make that image.

Well, that is pretty much what I have to say about it.

Adtrace's Response:

Board Moderation

Mods have been doing a good job I think.

Good job as well on dealing with the database purge and the loss of ranks. Seems that the bitching has died out and this is a good thing. It was dealt with rather well

The Boards

Board have been pretty normal. I think the ability to move posts from board to board is a good idea.

I am a poet and all this poetry being posted is beginning to annoy me. It doesn't belong on the public board and it doesn't belong on the member board according to the descriptions. And I agree with that. The idea was brought up about some sort of poets corner. I think that should be followed up on to keep the boards clean.

I also notice there seems to be a lot of banter on the boards and no computer discussion. Good for people like me but I could see that annoying some people

Lastly, I miss the old function. z7+ used to be able to search the boards according to a number of categories. It was extremely useful and I hope that this will be implemented again sometime

Brigade Coordination Forum

Hellz made a post about combining all brigade websites into one place. I can see how this would be a useful and viable option. I would say that I think egos will be the biggest stumbling block here

Tacheon made a post with the logs of the CPC meeting.

Several people made promotions, congratulations to all of them. I won't list all of you guys because so many of you did it, good job to everyone who got promoted!

Brigade Recruitment Forum

There is nothing much to say here. People post for recruits, occasionally someone responds, and the cycle starts over.

Members' General Discussion

Adtrace made a post about a CAU class being held. Good job CAU for continuing to have classes.

Aimee made a post that everyone should check out:

OmniOmi made a tutorial that should be of use to anyone who spends much time on the boards.

Many people have commented on the enhancements made to the forums by TheGame. Excellent job TG.

CyberArmy Public Forum

Aimee and her cohort zairo continue to make Christmas posts. This is a sample:

Wa1800z made a post that everyone should read.

CyberArmy Help & Support

As I always say at this point, nobody every posts any good entertainment on this forum. People ask questions, people answer questions.

CyberArmy Lounge

OmniOmi is still ending the days on the Lounge with a goodnight joke. Occasionally, someone still does a post of ?good morning CBC, and of Course Xeno, king of the lounge lizards still.
