CyberArmy Advanced Hardware Project| Category | | | Summary | CAAHP (CyberArmy Advanced Hardware Projects) is a group dedicated to providing hardware support, expertise, and fun hardware related projects to the CyberArmy community. This group is co-led by Kernel PixieLuv and myself.
|
| | Body | CAAHP is currently trying to gain greater visibility within the general CyberArmy community. We have been struggling for some time now with a public relations problem, being that no one seemed to know who we were or what we did. Ret. Marshal Craytonic has stepped forward with the CyberArmy Services and Support Brigade to lend a helping hand in that direction.
Hardware support is the main focus of CAAHP in its current form. A great deal of time is spent on the CyberArmy Hardware forum responding to posts indicating problems or asking for advice. While we like to consider this area of our mission to be a great success, there are a few improvements we hope to make. An "ask the tech" article is going to be implemented soon, where members of the community can submit questions to the folks at CAAHP, and every week a list of questions and their answers will be posted both on the CyberArmy Hardware forum and on the CAAHP website itself.
Tutorial guides are another function of CAAHP. Various members of the CAAHP team have written up guides designed to help members of the CyberArmy community with topics such as how to build a multimedia computer, how hard drives work, how to shop for speakers, and more. Our biggest limitation in this area right now is lack of input on what the community would like to see. To combat this problem, a guide request form is being worked on for the CAAHP site. Also, because there are some things that users always want, CAAHP is going to begin implementing a new feature where some guides are regularly updated. In particular, the group is going to add guides on the best computers for various price and goal points (gaming systems, home office systems, low budget systems, mutlimedia systems, etc..). Since the industry changes so quickly in this area, frequent updates should help keep the community at large up to speed on the latest developments.
CAAHP's Projects, while less visible to most people, are just as important a function of our group as the hardware support. Projects offers opportunities for the CyberArmy community to not just get help, but experiment and play and learn more about hardware themselves. Currently our biggset project along these lines has been the "Ultimate Cat Toy/Sentry Gun" Project which Ravn has been heading up. While this is a great project for everyone, we feel we need more.
Therefore, new projects will be added soon, like custom building your own computer case from scratch. As new ideas come into the group, a wider variety of projects should come online. It is the sincerest hope of CAAHP to have projects for people of all skill levels at all different price ranges.
Most of all, CAAHP is looking to grow and expand, in order to offer new services to the CyberArmy community. We need more input on what people want to see, so more and more feedback mechanisms are being implemented. The more information CAAHP is able to gather, the better our services will be and the more things we will be able to offer.
We also need recruits. Because of the diverse fields we cover, people of all different skillsets are required. It is not enough to have a group of hardware experts if they are unable to answer questions and write guides. Hopefully we will be able to meet the ever-growing needs of the CyberArmy Community, and will be able to really contribute and help make CA great. |
