Hi all, been a while since I have posted a feedback. Just a random and minor thought it might be nice to see the rank images along with the rank explanations on the about Wiki. Does the Wiki support images being imbedded (using bbcode or something similar)

Decision:
Agreed. Rank images have been added to the Wiki.

Message Notification:
Forum search needs to have a "no items found" display

Decision:
Agreed. Will be put on the ToDo list.

Message Notification:
A lot of people have been asking who is an IRCOp o CAIRC recently. Maybe include a line similar to the staff one on /~nickname so people can go check if in doubt.

Decision:
Agreed. IRC Operator has been added to IRCOp's ~finger.

Message Notification:
Would it be possible to code something that allows a C/O to look at all the subgroup logs under a given brigade or sub-brigade all at once, and separated by group? As it stands, it's very hard (or rather, counterintuitive) to get to the logs of a sub-brigade from the top level.

Decision:
Multiple features to include this have been added to the bottom of Command Panel as links.

Message Notification:
I remember having a discussion at some point and time allowing other sub-group options available to the Top-Level C/O such as roster's and e-mail addresses, and links to cMS. A Top-Level C/O has sub-groups and its members under their command, and they should be able to communicate with them as well as perform other command-related tasks for the sub-groups.

Decision:
First, to the question of email addresses. Any members public email address can be found in their ~finger. Brigade Commanders were queried about the usefulness of an option to email members directly under them, and to everyone under them within the subgroups. There was no interest in this feature for a couple of reasons. First of all, most communications to a few key persons are conducted via cMS. Second, mass communication is done via Brigade forums. Any member not actively checking either, isn't active, nor really a member. Sub-Commanders can contact those individuals if necessary via email, found in their ~finger. Likely, if a commander has to resort to using email, the member is not participating and is about to be discharged.

Second, links to member cMS' can be found in the Command Panel. The only users who don't have their cMS listed here are those in the join queues, and it's easy enough to get their nick into a cMS.

The over riding them is to avoid unnecessary emails. Adding such a feature that would "mass" email members would invariably be abused by someone. There isn't enough call for such a feature by the Brigade Commanders, who likely would be the only individuals allowed to have access to it. cMS and Brigade Forums serve as the primary methods of contact, not to mention IRC.

Message Notification:
A "Send This Link To" feature within a forum post, there are many many posts which I would like certain members of my brigade to read, however just cannot be bothered going into MyCA, copying the link, etc. I think it would be a handy feature.

Decision:
NOT considering access issues to various forums, the potential for abuse runs high. Personally, I don't like the idea of someone spamming links from CA forums with the click of a button. While I can see the usefulness of it, what happens when LT Arse starts sending multiple links to "lots" of folks? using a bogus email, he won't have to deal with the fallout, but we will.

Message Notification:
Forum Topic listings, perhaps a feature to make new topics listed at the top of the forum like say phpbb2?

Decision:
There already is one...set it to sort by latest post. When you are in the main page for any of the actual forums, in the view options box click sort by latest post. Submit that and it will then sort the posts in the forum in order of activity as opposed to having them sort by thread.

Message Notification:
Horz rule would be a pretty darned quickie to code into the bbcode, [horz] or something of the like?

Decision:
Neat option, perhaps, but I see folks using it in the wrong place, screwing something up and then needing posts deleted. Not so neat after all, IMO.

Links to new files on the what's new? section of CA (right hand side panel) are made wrong.

for instance: one link is https://www.cyberarmy.net/1/files/temp/forum_carnivore_icon.gif
or https://www.cyberarmy.net/my/1/files/temp/forum_carnivore_icon.gif where it should be https://www.cyberarmy.net/files/temp/forum_carnivore_icon.gif

Response
Fixed.

Message Notification
Donate button /about/donate.html no longer works...I got it in a cMS from scanjack way back at the split but I don't think the Wiki was around then.

Response
Correct. HowToDonate has been added to the Wiki.

Other/Miscellaneous

Message Notification:
There are probably going to be patches for functionality that we do not put into the main tree of Dinah. Should we make these patches publicly available to people who might use Dinah? So that they can add functionality that we do not want to support.

Response
Dinah primarily revolves around CA. People are welcome to submit patches, but without specific functionality that serves CA, they aren't likely to be used. A /contrib dir is not out of the question though. However, it'll on a case by case issue.

We hope you enjoyed this edition of the Feedback Digest! One quick reminder: if you encounter any bugs/errors on CyberArmy.net or the brigade sites, please submit a report to Feedback!
