Interview with Kernel dutchie99| Category | | | Summary | | Well, dutchie, what is your history within CA and are you content with the way it has evolved? |
| | Body | My Cyberarmy story started four years ago when I was a young boy exploring the Internet looking for some challenges. I saw CA offering the Zebulun challenges and immediately I got hooked. I spent day and night talking with Eliza about the essence of life. She even offered to go out and have some drinks with me but I wasn?t interested. Strange?
After finishing some of the challenges my eyes fell on the brigade structure in the community. The CIA section sounded especially cool, so I joined under the ZTF (Zebulun Task Force) trying to catch people who cheated. We all know that in that period many people didn?t do much, and I was one of them, though it was fun. After the huge changes my career went thrpugh, I joined under Hisim in zZine. After that, Prothis was my C/O in Public Relations for a long time. Those three years were great and I learned a lot about PR and how to act like a C/O. I had to leave SAS because of my exams and some other important projects in real life. So CA was on a side track, waiting to be picked up again. When I came back, CAU was the new group for me. I joined the Knowledge Bank and became C/O there, which I still am.
What is your current position in the Cyberarmy and what does this position involve with regard to work?
My current position in CA is the C/O of the Knowlegde Bank in CA University. In this position you see many aspects of being the responsible person for a group. So, like every other C/O, you always have to try to motivate people but also take care that everything runs smoothly. The last part is quite important, because the subgroups in the KB depend on each other. If one doesn?t function the right way it will have an effect on the whole group. That is the biggest challenge, in my opinion.
There was a time when you played a rather inactive role in CAU. If I remember well, you were slotted under Advisors then and didn?t make many forum posts if at all. What was it that kept you occupied then?
That period was a bit difficult for me. I passed my high school exams and was ready for joining the great world of college and living on my own. College is quite difficult and I am also a founder of a fraternity. So there was no time for my online life.
How do you see the future of the Knowledge Bank and CAU in general ? What do you believe will assure CAU a safe future?
The CA University has always had an important place in the CA community. One of the main goals of CA is to try to educate people so they can help themselves or others. Because of this, CAU will always be necessary in this community. One of the best things CAU does is offering special services, like classes, the Testing Center and the Knowledge Bank. KB is a group which always attracted me. There is so much knowledge in it and everyone can use it. We also all know that the main way of learning via the Internet is reading, and that is why the Knowledge Bank has and always will have a big role in that educational process.
Could you reveal some details about you outside CA? Where are you from, how old are you, what is your job and what ambitions do you have?
As my name already reveals my home is the Netherlands. I am a 20 year old guy who goes to college in Rotterdam. I?m doing second year Medical School and my main goal is to find a direction in the medical world and become one of the best doctors around. Which direction I don?t know yet, because there are too many things I like. My work is related to college, so I try to help people in a hospital.
What level of education do you have and what are your best skills you are proud of?
As I mentioned above I?m doing second year medical school. My best skills? difficult question, you know. One of my best skills is the ability to talk with everyone. It doesn?t matter for me what kind of person it is, because there is always something to talk about. Many people probably have this skill, but it is the best one I have. Of course I have a broad interest in everything. This is why I do medical school and also hang out in CA.
What do you do in your spare time?
Any spare time that is left is used for my girlfriend, sports and my fraternity. The last one consumes a lot of my time. It isn?t only a drinking thing, like the usual fraternity. We do lots of great things like surfing and organising events. Often I spend too much time in it and my girlfriend starts to complain, but as usual I don?t listen (kidding).
What are you favourite memories in CA?
Hmm...let me start digging in my memory. One of the best things in the old days was, not surprisingly, the Zebulun Challenges. Trying to solve the rough challenges and when you did, a nice feeling of accomplishment came down like a warm blanket on a midwinter night. Bah?
IRC was, next to the challenges, a great way to immerse yourself in the community and get to know some new people. Some of them became special people for me, listening when I had problems, or just for a laugh. This makes the community into a special place and I will always remember that.
What was the funniest thing you ever experienced in this community?
Sorry for not being able to answer this question. There were some great moments and some laughs but nothing really funny. Never had that much time to hang out here, I guess.
Anything else you would like to say or share with us?
Nah, nothing...well, maybe something. Maybe this isn?t the best place for this request but as C/O of the KB I have to do this. If there are people with some great papers suitable for the KB, please send me a note or post on the forums. It would be very good to collect some new articles written by members of CA. Thanks people and stay safe.
Thank-you to Kernel dutchie99 on behalf of zZine Media for his time taken for this interview.
